Aussie soap star to switch on lights - Nov 11

Actor Daniel O’Connor, who plays heartthrob Ned Parker in the Aussie soap Neighbours, will be joined on stage in the town centre by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston and Mike Walker, Director of Sandvik,  to perform the official Halesowen Christmas lights switch on.

The button will be pushed at 5.00pm on Saturday 15 November in Somers Square to light up the town centre and herald the start of the exciting countdown to the yuletide period.  The ‘switch on’  is part of an evening of fun and entertainment for the whole family and it’s all free thanks to the generosity of the sponsor - Sandvik.

It all starts at 11.00am with great entertainment from 96.4FM BRMB, live music from a gospel choir and the Commandments soul group, plus a fun fair throughout the town and firework display to accompany the switch on.

Youngsters can enjoy free activities including face painting and balloon modelling from Abby and Teabags as well as a festive caricaturist.

The Christmas lights switch on is the last major event before the official opening of the brand new Asda store in the Cornbow shopping centre on Monday, 24th November.

Cornbow Centre manager, Eve O’Connor says:  “We always have a fantastic turnout for the Christmas lights switch on.   It promises once again to be a great evening that will get you in the festive mood and everyone is invited to take part.”
