Summer happenings at the Cornbow - Thursday, May 08, 2008

Summer 2008 will see the Cornbow shopping centre play host to free activities for young and old alike.

Says centre co-ordinator Amanda Hodgetts, “we've a bumper pack of events - following on from the successes of Christmas, February half-term and Easter - with fun and games for the Summer holidays.

“Shoppers should keep their eyes peeled for further information nearer the time, but we can reveal that the centre will see a return of Pow Wow face-painting – who will also be doing funky hair and temporary tattoos on special dates.

“You can expect to see snakes, creepy crawlies, rabbits and guinea pigs courtesy of the Animal Lady and Animal Antics, both back by popular demand, as is Vineyard Pottery. You’ll get another chance to throw a pot, small bowl, jug or vase on the potters’ wheel.

“We’ve also got some art and design competitions coming up to celebrate the completion of redevelopment works in just over six months' time.

“In the meantime, we have a variety of free activities taking place over May half-term. From 12:00pm to 4:00pm on Tuesday 27 May, shoppers will have the opportunity to contribute to a community painting with local artist Ann Pearson.

“Wednesday (28) and Friday (30) will see popular face-painters Pow Wow return to the centre, while shoppers can make their own mug or vase on Thursday 29 May with Vineyard Pottery.

“The week will end on a high when the Animal Lady returns to the centre on Saturday 31 May, giving shoppers the chance to get up close and personal with the animals.

“For further information on all of these events, please keep an eye on the Cornbow notice boards outside Card Factory nearer the time.”
